The impurities are sticky or oily, such as biological slime in circulating cooling water, oily wastewater, paper pulp, or food processing wastewater.
High filtration accuracy is required, typically below 100 μm.
System pressure fluctuates or is relatively low — self-cleaning filters can operate reliably under a wider pressure range.
Water-saving is important, as the cleaning process consumes very little water.

Choose a Backwash Filter if your operating conditions meet any of the following:
The impurities are granular and easy to flush, such as sand in groundwater, shell particles in seawater, or rust particles in industrial circulating water.
A large flow rate is required, commonly used for coarse filtration in large-diameter main pipelines or raw water pretreatment.
Filtration accuracy is not high, usually above 100 μm.
System pressure is stable and sufficient, providing strong backwash flow.
Typical Applications: Seawater desalination pretreatment, municipal water supply, irrigation systems, large power plant cooling water, swimming pool circulation systems.
Note: A self-cleaning filter is an expert at handling complex or viscous impurities, relying on mechanical cleaning — reliable and precise. A backwash filter is skilled at removing simple, granular impurities, relying on hydraulic force — efficient and straightforward.
For systems with complex compositions, a combined process of “Backwash (Coarse Filtration) + Self-Cleaning (Fine Filtration)” can be adopted. This allows staged separation, each filter performing its specific role, achieving the best performance and cost efficiency.
