How to Distinguish Between Self Cleaning Filter and Backwash Filter

1. Brush-Type Self-Cleaning Filter:

“Filter and clean simultaneously — impurities removed on the spot.”

Its core design features a single filter element with an internal rotating brush, which works like an “automatic toothbrush” for the screen.
During operation, the unfiltered liquid passes through the filter screen, and impurities are trapped on the inner wall. When the pressure difference across the filter reaches the preset value, the equipment performs cleaning without stopping operation.
The built-in rotating brush closely contacts the filter surface and spins at high speed to remove the attached impurities, which are then discharged through the drain outlet at the bottom.

Throughout the process, filtration and cleaning occur simultaneously, and the flow rate is barely affected.

In simple terms: It removes impurities through mechanical friction, allowing continuous filtration during cleaning — ideal for applications requiring uninterrupted flow.

2. Multi-Element Backwashing Filter:

“Alternating cleaning — columns take turns to work.”

Its main feature is a multi-cartridge parallel design with reverse flushing—essentially combining several small filters into one system.
During normal operation, all filter cartridges work simultaneously. When one group of cartridges requires cleaning, the system automatically closes the inlet valve for that group and introduces high-pressure backwash water to flush from the inside out, removing and discharging the trapped impurities.

During this cleaning process, other cartridge groups continue filtering, ensuring stable overall flow.

In simple terms: It relies on reverse water flow to remove impurities. While one group is being cleaned, others remain in operation — suitable for large flow rates and high solid-content applications.
