What is Backwash Filter Used For

JX Filtration Backwash Filter
  • Working Principle:

    (1) Normal Filtration Process:

    Backwash Filter

During normal operation, the flow direction valve is open, allowing the water to pass through the filter screen. Small particles and suspended solids in the water are trapped and settle near the drain due to inertia.

    (2) Backwash Filter - Regular Cleaning:
During regular cleaning, the flow direction valve remains open. When the filter screen has collected enough small particles and suspended solids, you can open the drain valve. The water will flush the collected debris out until the discharged water is clear. After cleaning, close the drain valve, and the filter returns to normal operation.

    (3) Backwash Filter - Backwashing:
During backwashing, the flow direction valve is closed, and the drain valve is opened. Water is forced through the filter screen in reverse, pushing debris off the screen and cleaning it thoroughly. Because the flow direction valve is closed, the water speed increases, enhancing the backwash effect.

  • Installation and Maintenance:

    (1) Installation:
The filter can be installed directly onto the pipeline without any additional support, usually near the equipment it is protecting.

    (2) Cleaning Process:
The cleaning process can be done in two stages:

    • Stage 1: Normal Cleaning: Open the drain valve for about 30 seconds to flush out debris, depending on the amount of debris in the pipe.
    • Stage 2: Backwashing: With the drain valve still open, activate the flow direction valve for about 30 seconds to backwash and remove any remaining debris from the filter screen.
