How to Select the Material for Self Cleaning Filter Elements
-
For high-flow, low-pressure Self Cleaning Filters with a design pressure below 10 bar, it is recommended to use filters with woven mesh elements (screens).
- In high-flow, low-pressure clean water systems, the pressure is relatively low and the water source is cleaner, but the treatment volume is large. Using woven mesh elements with higher open area can increase the effective filtration area per unit, allowing the filter size to be sufficiently small, which is beneficial for on-site installation and maintenance.
-
For low-flow, high-precision, high-pressure clean water filters, it is recommended to use filters with wedge wire elements (screens).
- Higher pressure and precision can lead to greater potential pressure differentials; higher precision also means the filter mesh may clog more frequently. In low-flow conditions, the size difference between filters using woven mesh elements and wedge wire elements is minimal.
-
For filters treating white water, it is advisable to choose filters with wedge wire elements (screens).
- White water typically has a much higher concentration of suspended solids than clean water, and contains fibers and other solid impurities. This type of water quality is prone to screen clogging. In such cases, wedge wire filters, which are easier to clean and more pressure-resistant, are more suitable.
