How an Automatic Self-Cleaning Backwash Filter Works？

Fluid is introduced through the lower portion of the filter housing. It then flows through a filter element where the contaminant is captured on the exterior surface. The controller monitors the differential pressure across the filter as cleaning fluid is expelled through the outlet.

The backwash procedure begins when enough contaminants have accumulated on the element that the differential pressure reaches a preselected point. Back flushing is accomplished by automatically blasting the filter with air or gas, which forces the liquid through the waste outlet.

No additional fluid is introduced to contaminate the process, and the liquid discharged is only the volume of the filter housing, thus reducing disposal costs. When the backwash operation is complete, the system returns online, the controller is reset, and the process begins anew. The backwashing process lasts about 15 seconds.
