What Is a Suction Type Self Cleaning Filter

A suction-type self-cleaning filter is a highly efficient, intelligent liquid filtration device widely used in industrial, municipal, and agricultural sectors. It removes suspended solids, impurities, or microorganisms from liquids while featuring an automatic cleaning mechanism, significantly reducing manual maintenance and ensuring continuous system operation.

1. Working Principle

Filtration Phase: Liquid enters through the inlet and passes through a stainless steel filter screen where impurities are retained. The clean liquid then exits through the outlet.

Self-Cleaning Phase: When the pressure differential across the filter screen reaches a preset value (or is triggered by a timer), the suction mechanism creates negative pressure inside the filter screen, drawing contaminants backward for removal. The debris is discharged through a drain valve—no system shutdown is required during cleaning.

2. Key Advantages

  • High Efficiency & Automation: Thorough suction cleaning without manual intervention; ideal for heavily contaminated media.

  • Continuous Operation: Filtration continues uninterrupted during the cleaning cycle, ensuring system stability.

  • Low Maintenance & Energy Saving: No consumables required; only a small amount of liquid is used for cleaning, resulting in low operating costs.

  • Strong Adaptability: Suitable for high-temperature, high-pressure, and corrosive fluids; compact design for easy installation.

3. Typical Applications

  • Industrial Sector: Filtration of cooling water and chemical raw materials.

  • Municipal Water Supply: Pre-treatment of raw water and impurity interception in pipelines.

  • Food & Pharmaceutical Industries: Precision filtration of sanitary fluids such as beverages and pharmaceutical liquids.

  • Environmental Engineering: Wastewater reuse and greywater treatment systems.
