What are the Cleaning Methods Self Cleaning Filters III
3. Rotary Arm Self-Cleaning Filter
The rotary arm self-cleaning filter is a compact, integrated filtration system where multiple filter cartridges are installed within a single filter housing. It is typically used to remove solid particles from low-viscosity media.
The medium to be filtered flows through the wedge-shaped filter cartridges from the inside out, with solid particles being trapped on the inside of the filter cartridges.
As more contaminants accumulate, the pressure difference between the inside and outside of the filter cartridge increases.
Once the pressure difference reaches a preset value, the automatic backwashing process begins.
During backwashing, a gear motor rotates the cleaning arm underneath the pre-cleaned filter cartridge, interrupting the flow of raw liquid to the pre-cleaned cartridge.
The backwashing valve opens, creating a pressure drop between the filtrate side and the backwashing pipe, forcing a small portion of liquid to reverse flow into the pre-cleaned filter cartridge.
The accumulated contaminants on the inner surface of the filter cartridge are dislodged and flushed through the cleaning arm into the backwashing pipe.
Once the backwashing time for each cartridge is complete, the backwashing valve closes immediately. After all cartridges are sequentially cleaned, the backwashing cycle ends.
The rotary arm self-cleaning filter is suitable for removing solid impurities from industrial water and seawater, and is commonly used to protect critical equipment such as cooling systems, chemical processing units, and water treatment systems.
