Rotary Arm Self Cleaning Filter

The rotary arm self-cleaning filter is an integrated filter system where multiple filter elements are installed within a single filter housing. It features a compact design and is typically used for removing solid particles from low-viscosity media.

The medium to be filtered flows from the inside to the outside through the wedge wire filter elements, trapping solid particles on the inside of the filter elements.

As contaminants accumulate, the pressure differential between the inside and outside of the filter elements increases.

When the pressure differential reaches the set value, automatic backwashing begins.

During backwashing, a geared motor rotates the washing arm underneath the pre-cleaned filter element, interrupting the flow of raw liquid to the pre-cleaned filter element.

The backwash valve opens, and the pressure drop between the filtrate side and the backwash line forces a small portion of liquid to reverse flow into the pre-cleaned filter element.

The accumulated contaminants on the inside of the filter element are dislodged and flushed into the backwash line via the washing arm.

Once the backwashing time for each filter element is over, the backwash valve closes immediately. After all filter elements are sequentially cleaned, the backwash cycle ends.

Rotary arm self-cleaning filters are used to remove solid impurities from industrial water and seawater, and are commonly employed to protect critical equipment such as cooling systems, chemical processing units, and water treatment facilities.
