How does the Automatic Backwash Filter work

JX Filtration Backwash Filter

The wastewater to be filtered enters the housing from the bottom of the backwash filter, flows upward through the distributor, and enters the inner chamber of the filter element.

The filtered water then flows outward through the filter element. The clean water obtained after filtration exits through the outlet at the top of the filter. Solid impurities are retained on the inside of the filter element. During backwashing, the incoming water flow does not need to be cut off.

The motor drives the filter element suction cups to rotate, while the backwash discharge valve is opened. Each filter element is backwashed sequentially.

The pressure difference between the water pressure inside the filter and atmospheric pressure causes the filtrate to flow in reverse, removing the impurities retained on the inner walls of the filter element.

After one full rotation of the suction cup, the backwash is complete, and the backwash valve closes, stopping the drive motor. The backwash filter can be equipped with a different number of filter elements in each filter to provide sufficient filtration area, minimizing the pressure loss during operation.
