When selecting a self-cleaning filter, the most critical factor to confirm first is the filtration precision. The filtration range of self-cleaning filters typically spans from 20 to 5000 microns. If your required precision is below this range, it is recommended to consider alternative types of filtration equipment.

The following aspects should be taken into consideration:

Flow rate – What is the required treatment capacity per hour (in tons/hour)? This determines the size of the filter and the appropriate pipe diameter.
Operating pressure requirements – What pressure must the equipment withstand? This affects pressure testing parameters and the required wall thickness of the filter.
Filtration precision – If the desired filtration precision exceeds the design capabilities of a self-cleaning filter, this type of filter should not be forcefully selected.
Properties of the fluid – Is the liquid to be filtered corrosive or toxic? Corrosive media influence the material selection of the filter, and toxic media require a fully enclosed filtration process for safety.
Concentration of suspended solids in the impurities – If the solid content is high and includes hard particles, pre-treatment may be necessary to avoid damaging the cleaning brushes or causing blockages.
Special applications – If the filter is intended for a special or unique application, all specific requirements should be clearly communicated in advance.
