How Does Automatic Backwash Filter Work

An automatic backwash filter is a device capable of automatically cleaning the filter element and achieving continuous filtration. When impurities accumulate and cause the pressure differential between the inlet and outlet to reach or exceed the preset value, or when a preset time is reached, the control system automatically initiates the cleaning cycle.

Key Features:

  • Zero Downtime Maintenance: The backwashing process does not require system shutdown, ensuring uninterrupted operation.

  • Low Energy Consumption: Backwash water usage accounts for only 0.08%–1% of the filtered water volume.

  • Flexible Installation: Supports vertical, horizontal, or inverted installation configurations.

Backwashing Cycle Process:

Under the action of the drive unit, the filter element and its mounting plate are rotated by 90°, positioning the contaminated filter element in line with the fixed backwash port.

When the backwash valve opens, the pressure differential between the outer side of the filter element and the drain outlet causes a small amount of filtered liquid to flow in reverse — from the outside to the inside of the filter element — thereby flushing the contaminants from the inner surface of the filter element out of the system.

Each filter element is cleaned in sequence. Once all filter elements have been backwashed, the cycle is complete and the drain valve is closed.
