What is Automatic Self Cleaning Filter

1. Product Overview

The fully automatic self-cleaning filter is an intelligent water treatment device that integrates multiple functions such as filtration, backwashing, and waste discharge.

Automatic Self-Cleaning Filter

Utilizing advanced filtration technology and automated control systems, it effectively removes suspended solids, particulate impurities, sand, rust, and other pollutants from water, ensuring water quality meets the requirements for industrial processes or domestic use. This system is widely used in industrial circulating water systems, agricultural irrigation, municipal water supply, wastewater treatment, and other fields.

The core components of the filter include:

  • Filtration Elements: Typically made of high-precision stainless steel mesh or cartridges, offering a large filtration area and fine filtration accuracy to capture tiny particulate impurities.
  • Waste Discharge Unit: Responsible for expelling intercepted pollutants during the backwashing process.
  • Drive Mechanism: Drives the rotation or movement of the filtration elements to achieve comprehensive cleaning.
  • Control System: Equipped with sensors that monitor parameters such as pressure difference and flow rate in real-time. Based on preset conditions, it automatically initiates and manages the backwashing process, ensuring the filter maintains high-efficiency performance.

2. Working Principle

1. Filtration Process

Water enters the filter through the inlet and first passes through the coarse filter mesh for preliminary filtration. This step intercepts larger particles, preventing them from clogging the subsequent fine filtration components.

The water then flows through the high-precision stainless steel mesh or filter cartridge, where small suspended solids, sand, and rust particles are intercepted. Clean water exits through the outlet and enters the subsequent water system. During normal filtration, pollutants gradually accumulate on the filtration elements, leading to an increase in the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet.

2. Backwashing Process

When the pressure difference reaches the preset backwashing threshold, the control system automatically activates the backwashing program.

  • The drain valve opens, allowing part of the filtered water to flow through the drain pipe and reduce the internal pressure of the filter.
  • Simultaneously, the drive mechanism rotates or moves the filtration elements. The combination of water flow and the deformation of the filter mesh scrubs away the pollutants attached to the surface of the mesh, which are then discharged with the waste water.

During backwashing, the filter's inlet still maintains a certain water flow to sustain the internal water circulation, ensuring uniform and thorough backwashing performance.

The duration and intensity of the backwashing process can be adjusted based on the water quality and the level of pollution on the filtration elements. Typically, backwashing lasts from several seconds to a few minutes. Once backwashing is complete, the drain valve closes, and the filter returns to its normal filtration state, ready for the next backwashing cycle.
