How Does a Brush Self Cleaning Filter Work
The electric brush self-cleaning filter operates through an automated cleaning mechanism triggered by differential pressure or a preset time, ensuring a continuous filtration and waste discharge cycle. The core process consists of three stages: filtration, cleaning, and discharge.

1. Filtration Stage
-
Impurity Interception:
The liquid enters through the inlet and first passes through a coarse filter that removes large particles such as sand and algae. It then flows through a fine filter (filtration accuracy from 20 microns to 2 microns), effectively capturing smaller suspended solids and colloidal impurities. -
Differential Pressure Formation:
As impurities accumulate inside the filter, a pressure difference forms between the inner and outer sides of the filter. When this pressure difference reaches the preset value (e.g., 0.5 bar) or the set cleaning time is reached, the system automatically activates the cleaning process.
2. Cleaning Stage
Dual-Action Cleaning Mechanism:
- Rotational Brushing: A motor-driven stainless steel or nylon brush rotates along the inner surface of the filter to physically remove accumulated impurities.
- Vacuum Suction Discharge: Once the drain valve opens, the system utilizes the pressure difference inside and outside the filter to suction impurities into the discharge outlet. Some high-end models also integrate high-pressure backwashing technology to enhance cleaning efficiency.
Uninterrupted Operation:
The entire cleaning cycle takes only 10-60 seconds, ensuring continuous filtration without system shutdown, meeting the needs of uninterrupted industrial operations.
3. Discharge Stage
-
Efficient Waste Removal:
The dislodged impurities are expelled through the drain valve, ensuring the system remains clean and efficient. -
Waste Recovery Option:
Some models support impurity recovery, particularly for applications where reusable particles are present in industrial wastewater. -
Parallel System Stability:
In multi-unit configurations, filters operate alternately, ensuring system stability and preventing downtime during cleaning cycles.
