Automatic Backwash Filter

The automatic backwash filter is a device used for low-quality water filtration and can also be used for other processes that require filtration and purification. It is equipped with a manual butterfly valve at the front end of the filter element, and by adjusting the valve plate direction with the handle, the flow direction of water relative to the filter mesh can be changed. When the valve plate is open, the filter is in normal working condition, and when the valve plate is closed, the filter is in the backwash state. The equipment has the advantages of convenient backwashing, small size, large filtering capacity, and easy operation and management. It is generally installed in front of water supply, heat exchangers, or actuators, allowing periodic flushing to remove impurities without stopping the operation.

  • Applicable to different raw water qualities and water requirements.
  • Few vulnerable parts, no consumables, low operating costs, and simple operation and management.
  1. Working Principle:

The automatic sewage filter is mainly composed of a high-quality carbon steel cylinder body, a special structure stainless steel wedge-shaped filter mesh, backwash valve, and drainage device. When the filter is working, the handle guides the butterfly valve to be in the open state, and water flows into the filter through the inlet, passes through the filter mesh to the outlet. When the filter needs to drain, close the butterfly valve, open the drain valve, and the water flows through the front half of the filter mesh. Some water flows into the system from the outlet, and the remaining water flows from the outer side of the back half of the filter mesh to the inner side, and is discharged through the drain port, achieving the effect of automatically backwashing the filter mesh in reverse. This entire flushing process allows the system to operate normally without stopping.

  1. Operating Process:

  • Working Filtration:

When working normally, the water flow direction valve is in the open state. The water to be treated passes through the filter mesh and flows out from the outlet. Fine particle impurities and suspended matter in the water settle near the drain outlet due to inertial effects.

  • Flushing Drainage:

During normal flushing, the water flow direction valve is in the open state. When the fine particle impurities and suspended matter trapped in the filter collector section reach a certain quantity, open the valve on the drain outlet. This action, under the effect of water flow, flushes the impurities collected in the filter until the discharged water is clear. Then close the valve on the drain outlet to return to normal working status.

  • Backwash Drainage:

During backwashing, the water flow direction valve is in the closed state, and the drain valve is open. Due to the pressure difference, the water flows through the front half of the filter mesh and enters the space between the filter mesh and the housing. Under the pressure difference, it reversely enters the filter mesh from the outer side of the mesh tube, flushing the impurities adhering to the mesh holes, and discharging them from the drain port to achieve the purpose of cleaning the filter mesh. As the flow direction valve is closed, the water, after passing through the backwash valve, increases in velocity, resulting in a good backwashing effect.
